Electrical Engineering Intern
Responsibilities:
Attollo Rangefinder Data Collection System:
-
Developed Arduino program and electrical circuit that simultaneously measures 4 different commercial LIDAR rangefinders and processes user inputs to rangefinders up to 215 meters.
-
Saved data runs over various terrains and test procedures that experimented with rangefinder settings such as moving average and median filter to find optimal performance characteristics.
-
Wrote Python script for data processing and filtering to create statistics and quantify overall performance to identify areas of growth and present in public spheres/expos that company rangefinder performed 200% better than its competitors in the market.
-
Collaborated with a mechanical engineer on apparatus and test runs.
Non-Mechanical LIDAR System:
-
Collaborated with an electrical engineering to program Altium-designed PCB board and PIC microcontroller in C to communicate with a 64 channel non mechanical laser array system.
-
Built custom command parser for handling UART transmission and various user commands to PIC mainboard, TX and RX boards to fire one laser through user commands and get its time of flight.
-
Wrote firmware for potentiometers, time-to-digital converters and direct memory access to receive laser TOF and pulse width for future data analysis and 3D point cloud plotting.
Beacon Project:
-
Wrote Python modules for UART communication to TC-720 temperature controller and PCX7420B pulsed laser diode driver to streamline user experience between devices in order to power lasers for military purposes.
