Cigar Box Guitar
Apr 2019- May 2019
Project Description:
Cigar Box Guitar is a project (based on www.cigarboxguitars.com) where an electric guitar was built from scratch using wood and a cigar box. All parts were assembled together from woodworking and parts such as strings and screws. A pickup was built by USC's FabLab, a fabrication lab in Viterbi's School of Engineering. These parts were assembled together to form the guitar. A Notch bandstop filter was built to remove the fundamental frequency and the second harmonic of the B string. Another circuit, using comparators and a frequency to voltage integrated circuit, was also built as a "string tuner" to determine whether a string was in a required frequency band.
Responsibilties:
-
Building and assembling the electric guitar.
-
Designing, building and testing the Notch bandstop filter.
-
Designing, building and testing the string tuner circuit.
